Netflix and Chill has been taken TOO SERIOUSLY!
Some interesting stuff that I watched over the past two months in Quarantino ;)
Call My Agent (Netflix) - Its a French tv series on the talent managers and how they handle every situation and what the job entails. It was quote relatable and interesting. 3 seasons and 18 episodes. I also brushed up a bit on the language. Ah!Oui je parle un peu de francais ;)
Unorthodox (Netflix) - This was so intriguing on the Hasidic jew community set in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. It exposes the extreme culture of this particular sect and their lifestyle. This series is based on a book Unorthodox : The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots by Deborah Feldman. The fundamental belief of Hasidism is “change nothing,” or continue to follow the same lifestyles that were followed when the group began. Hasidic Jews believe that the Torah, the five books of Moses, is the literal word of God. . Esty Shapiro ( Shira Has) the protagonist is outstanding and the way she flees to Germany and her journey is an absolute must watch. Quite scary.
Buried - Ryan Reynolds stars as Paul Conroy, an ordinary guy who wakes up as the film starts, after some long, long seconds of total blackness, buried alive in a wooden coffin. And that is where he and we stay for the entire film: in that tiny eight-by-eight wooden box. By the end, I was quietly wheezing and whinnying with distress.
The Hook-up Plan (Netflix) – Honestly im hooked on to their background score. It’s a beautiful track. I downloaded it on itunes as well. Okay coming back to the show. It’s a light chic flic and mostly for the fun dynamic between the three friends at the center of The Hook Up Plan. Its a charming little French series here worth checking out.
Hollywood (Netflix)- Hollywood is part seedy underbelly story, part alternate history of the first Hollywood Golden Age. The show follows a group of up-and-coming Hollywood talent and their industry veteran counterparts as they work together to make a movie that breaks literally all the barriers in 1940s Hollywood- Coloured actress as lead Homosexuality.
Elite (Netflix) - This teen drama is an entertaining mixture of guilty pleasure and thriller-like traits that makes it easy to binge. If anyone fancies a show that dishes out suspenseful mystery with a generous serving of vivid teen drama in another corner of the globe, one need not look much further than the seductive and daring “Elite” on Netflix. If you fancy a show that dishes out suspenseful mystery with a generous serving of vivid teen drama in another corner of the globe, one need not look much further than the seductive and daring “Elite”. I binged watched this one with lots of maggi and bourbon
Never Have I Ever (Netflix) - It’s enjoyable in parts, but I didn’t exactly love it. Its like American Born vert confident and bold desi. Some parts are quite cute but otherwise justa cliché. I watched it cause I am fan if Mindy Kaling but she’s just produced it so you can give this a skip!.
Schitss Creek (Netflix) – I JUST LOVE THE ROSE FAM. Schitt’s Creek is that rare gem that has actually become smarter, wittier and more lovable as it ages.I am so sad that the show came to an end, it was one of the best comedy, drama shows ever. I just love how David , Alexis, Moira and Jphhny are! They will be my favourites for a long time J
Fauda (Netflix)- It is based on an Israeli undercover counterterrorist team and the conflict between Israel and Palistine. Action, Thriller.
Watch this one for sure. The Israel-Palestine conflict, the Jews versus Muslims bloodbath, has been watched closely by world for years. Also watch it for Lior Raz ( Doron) and the other reason is the blending of relationships, love, longing and real-life drama with guns and grenades. But all in perfect balance.
Contagion (Netflix) – Goosebumps. We are living a movie and that’s contagion.
It starts with a cough. You’ve heard the sound a million times before, in the same way you’ve seen people grip a subway pole, hand over a credit card, pass someone else their phone a million times before.
We are probably flocking to this movie to see what may be in store for us in the next month or so. That last bit of optimism it offers us couldn’t have come at a better time.
Panchayat (Hotstar) - Ghosts, goons, neem, national anthems, CAT exams, selfies, petha, police, Maggi, Murrah buffalo's milk and doodhi (bottle gourd) as a welcome gift, source of bribes and props to show off Neena Gupta's flawless slicing skills, all this and more find their way in the most humorous fashion in Panchayat's sublime, satirical adventures.
Pataal lok (Amazon) - Paatal Lok, the latest Hindi web series to hit the world of e-cinema on Amazon Prime, is one of the better web-series made in recent history. But it’s not just good entertainment. It’s also one of the most brilliant and sophisticated servings of Leftist propaganda. Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj Kabi have nailed it. Paatal Lok leaves you asking for more. Sudip Sharma has written this show.
