In Love and How- WORLD CHAMPIONS 2011

I was never so cricket crazy till I met Monsieur H. I haven't seen anybody as passionate as him while watching cricket.

Coming back to the point – This year I followed World Cup thoroughly and I was super-excited too.

We watched the world cup in a pub nearby and it was hell lot of fun. Cheering for team India and then seeing India win at the end when it looked somewhere at the start of our batting that it would be difficult to overcome the target set to us by the Lankans.

But we did it and we did it in style with Dhoni hitting the ball in to the crowd for a huge six.

I never got to understand as to why people lauded Sachin so much after the match and not Dhoni as much but then I got to know as to what Sachin meant to India, to Cricket. My husband as a true fan told me a lot about him as to why people love him so much. Kohli summed it all, that since Sachin had carried the burden of India on his shoulders for 21 years it was time for him to be taken on the shoulder.

I had met Cricketers in the past since my work indulges dealing with them however I never used to get excited about meeting them since I never followed Cricket but now after getting married the contagious Cricket fever of my husband has got on to me and now I realize that I could have savored all those moments. That fever also made me take a picture of me with Sachin last year.

Getting back to Sachin, he transcends class and religion, regional boundaries in our country. He stands for being a fighter who has stood the test of time for 21 years. Not many sports star can stand such a long test of time since age and fitness gets better out of them sooner or later.

We went for a drive to Sachin’s home ground Shivaji Park after we won the match and it was mayhem/ There were people shouting his name in joy. The win was for the country at the end but they all dedicated it to Sachin for he has been a grand old man of Indian Cricket, someone on whose shoulders the hope of every Indian remained when he came out to bat. People used to pray for him to succeed and there can not be any more justification for a greatness of a man when people across difference class want him to succeed.

Inputs from Monsieur H and since i was unable to express , speechless he managed to express on my behalf.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OOOO OOO OOOO CHAMPIONS OF THE CHAMPIONSS OOOOOOOOOOO :D
